Virtual Therapy In Hamilton & Across Ontario
Therapy That Feels Human, Grounded, And Deeply Relational
Ripple Effect Psychotherapy is a virtual therapy practice based in Hamilton, Ontario, supporting adolescents and adults across the province who are navigating anxiety, burnout, perfectionism, people-pleasing, attachment wounds, and the patterns that can make it hard to feel at home in yourself and your relationships. Our work is warm, relational, attachment-focused, and rooted in the belief that all parts of you make sense and that meaningful therapy begins with creating enough safety to understand them.
At Ripple Effect Psychotherapy, we believe healing begins with feeling safe, seen, and understood. As your relationship with yourself changes, that shift can ripple into your relationships and the life you are creating.
Our Therapeutic
Areas Of Focus
We often work with people who have become very good at holding things together, caring for others, and continuing to move forward… even when something inside feels anxious, exhausted, disconnected, or stuck. Our areas of focus reflect the experiences we most often sit alongside, with space to gently understand the patterns beneath them and what you may need now.
High-Functioning Anxiety
Support for the part of you that looks “fine” on the outside while feeling overwhelmed, overextended, or constantly bracing on the inside. Together, we can get curious about what your anxiety has learned to protect and help your system experience more steadiness, choice, and ease.
Perfectionism & People Pleasing
Therapy for the parts of you that learned that being good, impressive, agreeable, or mistake-free was the safest way to belong. This work can help soften the pressure to get everything right, untangle approval-seeking, and create more room for boundaries, self-trust, and the freedom to be human.
Relational Patterns
Support for understanding what happens to you in relationships… whether you find yourself overexplaining, overgiving, withdrawing, shutting down, or becoming anxious when connection feels uncertain. Together, we make sense of these patterns without judgment and explore ways of relating that feel more secure, honest, and like you.
Attachment Trauma
Therapy for relational wounds that may still shape how you experience closeness, trust, conflict, vulnerability, and emotional safety. We approach this work gently, recognizing that the ways you learned to protect yourself in relationships often developed for very good reasons.
Burnout & Overfunctioning
upport for the exhaustion that can come from carrying too much, being the capable one, or feeling responsible for keeping everything going. Therapy can help you understand what makes slowing down feel difficult, reconnect with your own needs, and begin building a life that asks less of your nervous system.
Therapy For Eldest Daughters
For the ones who learned early to be responsible, attuned, capable, and “fine.” This work offers space to explore the roles you have carried, the needs you may have learned to set aside, and who you are when you no longer have to be everything for everyone.
Life Transitions
Support through seasons of change, uncertainty, grief, growth, and becoming. Therapy can offer a steady place to make sense of what is shifting, grieve what you may be leaving behind, and listen more closely to what you want the next chapter to hold.
Self-Worth, Identity & Belonging
Therapy for the parts of you still learning that your worth does not have to be earned through achieving, pleasing, caring for everyone else, or becoming who you think you are supposed to be. This work is an invitation to reconnect with your voice, your needs, your values, and a deeper sense of who you are.
-

Grounded
We believe there is value in slowing things down. Therapy with us is thoughtful, steady, and paced with care… creating space to notice what is happening beneath the surface without rushing you toward an answer, a breakthrough, or a story you are not ready to tell.
-

Human
You are a person, not a problem to solve, and we bring our humanity into the room, too. Therapy can be warm, honest, imperfect, and real: a space where laughter, tears, uncertainty, silence, and “I don’t know” are all welcome.
-

Relational
We believe the relationship is not simply the backdrop for therapy, it is foundational to the work. Healing can happen through new experiences of connection: being met with curiosity instead of judgment, having space to be honest about what you need, and discovering that relationships can hold vulnerability, boundaries, misunderstanding, and repair.
About Katelyn, Founder Of
Ripple Effect Psychotherapy
I am a warm, genuine, and collaborative therapist with more than a decade of clinical experience who believes deeply that not all therapy is the same. To me, some of the most meaningful work happens when you feel safe enough to slow down, become curious about the parts of yourself you may have spent years judging, and experience a relationship where you do not have to perform, explain yourself perfectly, or have it all figured out.
My work is rooted in Internal Family Systems (IFS) and parts work, attachment-based therapy, EMDR therapy, and nervous-system-informed care. I created Ripple Effect Psychotherapy to offer the kind of therapy I believe in: human, thoughtful, deeply relational, and grounded in the understanding that the ways you learned to cope, survive, and protect yourself make sense.
Whether we are gently exploring patterns, getting to know different parts of you, or using EMDR to process experiences that still feel stuck, my hope is that the work we do together does not end in the therapy room, but gently ripples into the way you understand yourself, the relationships you build, and the life you are creating.

Frequently Asked Questions

Ripple Effect Psychotherapy currently offers virtual therapy for adolescents and adults located anywhere in Ontario. Our practice is based in Hamilton, and we support clients in Burlington, Oakville, Toronto, and communities across the province.
-
We support adolescents and adults across Ontario navigating experiences such as anxiety, burnout, perfectionism, people-pleasing, relational patterns, attachment wounds, life transitions, self-worth, identity, and the weight of always seeming “fine.” Many of the people we work with are thoughtful, capable, and deeply attuned to others, but may find it harder to extend that same care toward themselves.
-
Our work is grounded in relational, attachment-based, and parts-informed approaches to therapy. Depending on your therapist, their areas of training, and what feels supportive for you, therapy may also draw from Internal Family Systems (IFS) and parts work, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and S.A.F.E. EMDR.
This means we are interested not only in what you are struggling with, but also in how your patterns, protective strategies, relationships, and lived experiences have shaped the way you move through the world. Rather than asking, “What is wrong with you?” our work is often guided by a different kind of curiousity: “What happened, what did you learn, and how has your system been trying to protect you?”
-
A complimentary consultation is a gentle first step. It gives us a chance to connect, hear more about what you are looking for, answer any questions, and explore whether one of our therapists might feel like the right fit for you. If we do not feel like the right fit, that is okay too.

Not at all. You might arrive with a specific experience you want support with, or simply a feeling that something is not working the way you want it to anymore. You might know the pattern but not understand where it comes from, or you may not have words for it yet.
You do not need to tell your story perfectly or know exactly where to begin. We can figure that out together.
